An Art Deco style deep green over clear cut glass bonbonnière or boîte à bonbons, designed by Charles Graffart for Val St Lambert, the stepped circular thick-walled body with faceted radiating lid, retaining the original gold foil label to the cover.

The Val Saint Lambert glassworks is a renowned Belgian crystal manufacturer established in 1826 in Seraing, near Liège. Known for its high-quality craftsmanship and artistry, Val Saint Lambert produced all manner of exquisite crystal glassware, including vases, bowls, drinking glasses, chandeliers and other decorative items. Its designs often combine traditional techniques with innovative styles, making it a highly regarded brand in the world of luxury glassware. The double-overlay technique, where layers of coloured and clear glass are combined, became the company's signature style.

Charles Graffart (1893-1967) was one of Val Saint Lambert's most influential mid‑century designers, known for introducing a bold architectural modernism to the Belgian crystal manufactory, during his tenure as Head of Design from 1942 to 1958. Trained in the classical traditions of European glassmaking but shaped by the geometric rigour of the Art Deco, Graffart developed a distinctive vocabulary of stepped forms, radiating facets and heavy sculptural massing that defined the company's post‑war identity. His work combined technical virtuosity with a strong sense of structure, often using deep colour overlays, particularly in green, ruby, and amber, to heighten optical depth. Today, Graffart's pieces are among the most sought-after Val Saint Lambert creations.
