A 19th century lion's mask door stop
A mid 19th century lion's mask brass door stop, by William Tonks & Son, the reverse of the base with the eight-pointed 'sun' trademark together with the initials W, T & S and the patent registration mark and design number '8807'.
William Tonks & Sons, of Moseley Street, Birmingham, supplied various cast and wrought iron metal objects to Liberty's. Formerly Beddington, Tonks & Co., in 1881 they employed 259 men, 100 boys and 77 women.
