A mid century ribbed green glass vase
A mid century ribbed green glass vase
A mid century emerald green glass vase attributed to the Whitefriars glass manufactory, the cylindrical tapering form decorated with evenly-spaced horizontal bands.
Founded in the heart of London near Fleet Street, the Whitefriars Glass Manufactory traces its origins to 1680, making it one of Britain's longest-running and most influential glassworks. Its name derives from the Carmelite monastery that once occupied the site-the monks' white habits earning them the nickname "White Friars." Despite its artistic success, the manufactory closed in 1980, ending over 300 years of continuous production.
